Oprah Winfrey most recently made headlines with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, and she's back at it again with actor Elliot Page, who granted her his first on-camera interview since coming out as trans last year.

In a new clip from Page's forthcoming episode of The Oprah Conversation, Winfrey asks him what part of his transition has brought him "the most joy."

"Getting out of the shower and the towel's around your waist, and you're looking at yourself in the mirror, and you're just like, there I am," Page replies, starting to get choked up. "Not having the moment where I'm panicked. I'm not having all of these little moments that used to be... just being in a T-shirt. Being able to touch my chest and feel comfortable in my body for probably the first time."

After sitting down with Winfrey, the 34-year-old actor also spoke to Vanity Fair about his decision to open up about transitioning.

"It was something I needed to sit with for a moment, because the backlash right now is so intense," he told the magazine. "But the rhetoric coming from anti-trans activists and anti-LGBTQ activists — it’s devastating. These bills are going to be responsible for the death of children. It is that simple. So [talking to Oprah] felt like an opportunity to use a wide-reaching platform to speak from my heart about some of my experience and the resources I’ve been able to access — whether therapy or surgery — that have allowed me to be alive, to live my life."

The Umbrella Academy star first spoke publicly about his gender identity last December, tweeting a heartfelt coming-out message to his 1.5 million Twitter followers.

“I can’t even begin express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self,” he wrote. “I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. To all the trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and [threats] of violence every day: I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better.”
