"Drag Race" Season 12 Queens RuCreate Emmy-Nominated Looks

HBO's "Watchmen" starring... the Widow Von'Du?!

RuPaul has already dressed as an Emmy statue, so now it's her girls' turn to honor the Television Academy's prestigious annual awards.

This year, the RuPaul's Drag Race franchise scooped up 13 Emmy nominations, but that wasn't the only cause for celebration. A record-breaking number of Black actors landed nominations as well, with 35 of the 102 nominees being people of color.

In honor of this historic achievement, queens from Drag Race Season 12 chose to recreate their favorite looks worn by this year's nominees.

The fierce photoshoot features Widow Von’Du as Regina King’s Angela Abar from HBO's Watchmen, and she also dresses as Tracee Ellis Ross from Blackᐧish. Season 12 winner Jaida Essence Hall goes from Breastworld to Westworld as she transforms into Madam Maeve Millay played by Thandie Newton. Jaida also channels Laverne Cox’s infamous Sophia Berset character from Netflix's Orange Is the New Black. Heidi N Closet serves it as Octavia Spencer from Netflix's Self Made: Inspired by the life of Madame CJ Walker.

We are loving these Emmy eleganza looks! Scroll through the images below to learn more about why the queens chose these iconic nominees and how they achieved their transformations.

“I chose Thandie Newton not just because she thought I was beautiful, but because she is as well. She has such range when performing in any film or show and she makes you feel with your heart because she breathes life into every character. I aspire to one day embody all that she’s done with her career. She is such a huge inspiration to me!” —Jaida Essence Hall
