Boys, bathing suits, and cake—not too shabby for a wet Monday night. At No. 8 in Chelsea, New York designers Parke Lutter and Ronen Jehezkel presented the 2014 Parke & Ronen resort collection on eight models that were so delicious we didn't even ask who the hell buys "resort wear" anymore. (The industry really should change the term to "tropical wear," since it's meant for year-round hot spots—literally.)
The line featured a range of short shorts, open-weave cardigans, two-tone colorblocked shirts, and various swim attire. (Trunks, board shorts and briefs, oh my!) Thankfully, my eye didn't spy any suit shorts, but I guess you wouldn't wear that at Club Med. Lutter and Jehezkel, partners in life and work, went for a color palate that relied heavily on blues (chambray, navy and aqua) and reds (cherry, coral and burgundy), with hints of olive and the basics—black and white. Deco-inspired patterns and bright stripes also graces the swimwear and shorts. Veteran mannequin Tyson Beckford made an appearance (sadly, not in his swimsuit) and brought one of our favorite things—cake!—as a birthday treat for Jehezkel.
Like we're supposed to eat carbs after looking at these living gods.
While we wait for the resort line to filter down to us mere mortals, Parke & Ronen's summer line is currently available online, in their New and L.A. boutiques, and at high-end departments stores. I'm partial to the Angeleno print swim trunk in plaid blue and the Jaipur
Hollerback Holler shorts in bright red, but after that second piece of cake, I think I'll need to hit the elliptical hard to squeeze into them.
