Brita Filter Reminds You to Sashay to the Polls With Fierce New Club Track

"America really just needs a bright new glow-up."

The election is only a few days away, and turnout this year is more important than ever. RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 queen Brita Filter knows that, so she's here with a new single reminding you to sashay to the polls.

Not only is Brita a Drag Race Season 12 sister, but she is also a national co-chair for Drag Out the Vote, bestselling author and speaker Jackie Huba's get-out-the-vote initiative. Now, the New York City nightlife mainstay has teamed up with KayKay Lavelle, a Drag Out the Vote Drag Ambassador from North Carolina, and rapper Bryce Quartz for a fierce new club track, "You Brita Vote, Kay?"

The single marks the first time that Brita has released original music—outside of Drag Race, of course—as her queen persona.

"I went to college for Opera and Musical Theatre... I've been singing since I was a kid but took a break when I started drag and kinda fell in love with rapping," Brita said in a statement to NewNowNext. "I have the itch now, henny, I'm looking forward to coming out with more music with important messages like ‘You Brita Vote, Kay!’ in the near future. KayKay reached out to me and said, ‘Hey sis! I am a Drag Ambassador and my partner has been working on a bunch of music. We would love to collaborate on something to get people woke about voting!’ It took a while to find the right vibe, but once we had I knew it would be something fierce with a great message."

The worlds of politics and drag have collided time and time again over the past few years. RuPaul’s Drag Race now ends every episode with queens carrying signs urging viewers to register to vote, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren had a booth at last year’s RuPaul’s DragCon NYC.

"You Brita Vote, Kay?" will be available digitally this Thursday, October 29 at 12pm ET, with 50% of proceeds from sales of the single benefitting Drag Out the Vote’s work in 2020 and beyond.
