“The Thing About Harry” Takes on Gay Dating Apps in Exclusive New Clip

The boys in Freeform's gay Valentine's Day rom-com are looking for love.

Peter Paige has been busy behind the scenes as a producer on hit Freeform shows like The Fosters and Good Trouble, but the former Queer as Folk star is finally getting back in front of the camera with the new gay rom-com The Thing About Harry.

As NewNowNext reported in November, Paige directed and co-produced The Thing About Harry, and he also makes a small cameo. Now we have an exclusive clip from the film.

“It’s been an honor to partner with Freeform in making great television with LGBTQ+ characters as leads,” Paige and his co-producers said in a statement. “True equality can only be achieved when you see yourself reflected in the movies, music, and stories that paint our culture.”

THE THING ABOUT HARRY - Directed by Peter Paige ("Good Trouble," "The Fosters"), "The Thing About Harry" tells the story of high school enemies, uber-jock Harry and out-and-proud Sam, who are forced to share a car ride to their Missouri hometown for a friend's engagement party on Valentine's Day. In the scene, Paige's character, Casey, gives a pep talk to Sam (Grey’s Anatomy star Jake Borelli), urging him to try a gay dating app, leave his room, and go out to meet some guys.

"I did not march on Washington, and ACT UP, and fight AIDS for all of those years," Casey tells Sam in the clip, "so you can waste your life locked in that malodorous bedroom, furiously masturbating to what can only be described as moderately shameful amateur pornography."

Does Sam take his advice? You'll have to tune in to The Thing About Harry when it premieres February 15 at 8pm ET on Freeform. Until then, watch the scene below.
