Jonathan Van Ness Reveals He Secretly Got Married Last Summer
All things just keep getting better for Jonathan Van Ness.
Queer Eye's resident grooming expert revealed that he tied the knot earlier this year. In an Instagram post highlighting all of the good things that happened to Van Ness during 2020, like his stand-up comedy tour and stumping for Elizabeth Warren on the campaign trail, he also casually mentioned that he married his "best friend," Mark Peacock, back in the summer.
"Thank you universe for allowing me to be here & thanks to everyone who has supported me. 2020 was a year unlike any other," he wrote. "I got to campaign & get more involved politically. I finished my tour in Australia & NZ for what I didn’t know would be my last standup show for who knows how long. Thank you universe for allowing me to be here & thanks to everyone who has supported me. 2020 was a year unlike any other."
"I got married to my best friend & have a loving partner to continue building my life with," he added.
His Queer Eye co-stars commented on his announcement, with Bobby Berk writing: "Yay!! That was a hard secret to keep!! 🤣 love you Mark and Johnny! ♥️"
Karamo Brown said "Yay! We can finally celebrate it publicly!! So happy for you!!!!!! One of the most Beautiful couples in the world. Love you & Happy New year @jvn ❤️." Tan France and Antoni Porowski also congratulated their fellow Fab Fiver, with Porowski jokingly saying, "wait you got a dog?!?!?!" referring to JVN's new dog, Pablo.
Van Ness spilled a few more details of his surprise nuptials when he retweeted E! News' post about his marriage. He revealed that the wedding was an intimate affair in his backyard with "a socially distanced judge & a photographer," and their parents watching over FaceTime.
E! News notes that romance rumors between Van Ness and Peacock began swirling late 2019 when the two started liking and commenting on each other's Instagram posts.
Congrats to the happy couple!
