Superstar DJ Diplo Responds to Gay Rumor: “Masculinity Is a Prison”

The EDM hitmaker previously tweeted that he was "only half gay."

Grammy-winning EDM star Diplo continues to subvert masculine norms.

This week, after tweeting the hot Gossip Girl take that "blair waldorf is the upper east side tony soprano," Diplo directly responded to a tweet asking, "Y'all sure he is str8?"

"Masculinity is a prison," replied the 39-year-old Los Angeles-based DJ and producer, known for collaborative projects like Major Lazer, Jack Ü, and LSD.

"You know who Blair Waldorf is AND stand up against toxic masculinity? I love you even more now," tweeted one fan.

"Non-binary king," tweeted another, as many others continued to stan.

The vocal LGBTQ rights advocate previously tweeted in 2016 that he was "only half gay." Responding to subsequent headlines labeling him gay, he tweeted that he was "just gonna pretend I am."

No stranger to pop queens like Madonna and Beyoncé, Diplo memorably kissed Pabllo Vittar last year in the Brazilian drag star's “Então Vai” music video.

Diplo's new comment comes shortly after American Psychological Association issued its first official warning against toxic masculinity, labeling it "harmful."
