Disney Shares First Loooook at "Hocus Pocus 2" Sanderson Sisters Reunion

Amok, amok, amok!

We hope you've kept your black candles burning because the Sanderson sisters are returning to Salem.

Last year, Bette Midler revealed that the original Hocus Pocus trio — Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy — would be reprising their roles in the long-rumored sequel of the 1993 Halloween cult classic. Now as part of Disney+Day, the House of Mouse has released the first image of the reunited Sanderson sisters in Hocus Pocus 2.

According to the official plot synopsis for Hocus Pocus 2, “Three young women accidentally bring the Sanderson sisters back to modern-day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world.” Sounds familiar!

In addition to Midler, Parker, and Najimy, Doug Jones will return to reprise his role as Billy Butcherson. There will also be some new faces crossing paths with the witty witches, including Tony Hale, Hannah Waddingham, Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, Belissa Escobedo, Juju Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Nina Kitchen, and Taylor Henderson.

As Logo previously reported, the original film’s director, Kenny Ortega, will not be stepping behind the camera for the sequel. Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses) will helm the movie, with Adam Shankman on board as executive producer.

"I am beyond thrilled to be involved in the sequel to a film that is as beloved as Hocus Pocus," Fletcher said in a press release. "Fans around the world have embraced these characters and have made this film a Halloween tradition whose popularity continues to grow, and how lucky am I to be back at Disney with these three extraordinarily talented ladies in the iconic roles they created, as well as our fabulous additions to the cast?"

Hocus Pocus 2 is currently filming in Rhode Island and will hit Disney+ in October 2022.
