"Schitt's Creek," "RuPaul’s Drag Race" Score Major 2020 Emmy Nominations

Billy Porter and Rainy Rainbow also got some Television Academy love!

Even with a global pandemic the Emmys are still happening. This morning Leslie Jones hosted the virtual announcement of the nominees for the 72nd annual Primetime Emmys. The Emmy-nominated SNL actress was joined by Laverne Cox, Josh Gad, Tatiana Maslany and Television Academy CEO Frank Scherma for the online event that streamed on the Television Academy's social media and YouTube.

HBO's Watchmen led the pack with 26 nominations, followed by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with 20. Schitt's Creek scored 15 nods, with all four of the lead actors—Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Annie Murphy, and Dan Levy—nominated for acting awards.

Continuing its Emmy streak, RuPaul’s Drag Race snatched a total of 13 nominations, including Outstanding Reality Competition Series. RuPaul got another nod for Outstanding Host, and the series was nominated for multiple awards for the Season 12 premiere, "I'm That Bitch." Untucked and VH1's digital series, Out of the Closet were also nominated with the flagship show.

As for other LGBTQ titles, Ryan Murphy's Hollywood series received 12 nominations, and We're Here starring Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O'Hara, and Shangela, was nominated for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program. Queer Eye scored seven, including Oustanding Reality Series and Outstanding Host. Pose snatched six nods, with one for last year's winner, Billy Porter. Randy Rainbow also scored a nomination for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series.

And Bette Midler got some Emmys love. The legendary singer-actress was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series for her role on The Politician.
