Tyson Beckford Offers Free Firearms Self Defense Classes For LGBT People

"The masses...are EXTREMELY homophobic and we won't stand for it."

Tyson Beckford will be teaching free "firearms self defense classes" for the LGBT community in Miami next month.

The actor made the announcement on Instagram this weekend after posting several videos of himself firing automatic weapons at a firing range.

"Ever since the Orlando shooting [Tyson Beckford] and I have been working on some projects to give back to the masses," reads the message, which was reposted from the account of Miami-based martial artist and firearms instructor Suleiman Yousef.

It was posted with the now-famous rainbow "shoot back" meme—a coiled snake on a rainbow flag bearing the defensive hashtag #ShootBack, which urged LGBT people to protect themselves by "shooting back" in the wake of the massacre at Pulse.

"Sad to say that we both stand behind our 2nd Amendment but the masses in the industry who preach 'God and Country' are EXTREMELY homophobic and we won't stand for it," the message reads.

Additional info on dates and locations of classes, which will begin in mid/late December, will be made available on December 1.

Tyson and Suleiman have also suggested additional dates in other cities could follow.
