Prepare for Plenty of KangaRu Puns on “RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under”

Shantay, g’day!

RuPaul's Drag Race's world domination continues!

World of Wonder has announced that RuPaul and his best squirrel friend, Michelle Visage, are ready to say "Shantay, g'day!" on RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under, the latest international version of the Emmy-winning reality TV phenomenon.

Like Drag Race U.K., Ru will host and join Michelle at the judges' panel, with a third judge and celebrity guests to be announced later this year. It will feature queens from across Australia and New Zealand who will be competing for the title of Down Under’s first Drag Superstar.

Commissioned by local streaming service Stan in Australia and TVNZ OnDemand in New Zealand, the series will be a Stan Original production in Australia. Drag Race Down Under will be available exclusively on WOW Presents Plus in the U.S. and other international markets, with new episodes airing the same day they premiere in Australia and New Zealand.

“I cannot wait for everyone to see that Down Under queens have some of the biggest charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talents in the world. Thank you to Stan and TVNZ OnDemand for providing a platform for these outrageous drag artists to share their heart, soul, and humor,” said Ru in a statement announcing the series.

Executive Producers Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato of World of Wonder said: "The dazzling queens of Australia and New Zealand have always been an inspiration to us, so we are thrilled to team up with our local production partners Stan and TVNZ to bring the creative genius of drag down under to international audiences on WOW Presents Plus."

Ru's involvement in an Australian version of Drag Race should come as no surprise. His husband, Georges LeBar, is Australian, and Ru has always professed a love for the country and the culture.

Most details about Drag Race Down Under — like the queens and premiere date — are still under wraps, but we should expect some Kylie Minogue lip-syncs and lots of kangaRu puns...
