We all know Lady Gaga is coming to American Horror Story: Hotel, and on Sunday, fans at the San Diego Comic-Con got their first glimpse of Mother Monster checking in to the macabre anthology series.
At a panel also touting his new horror comedy Scream Queens, Ryan Murphy joined AHS faves Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Matt Bomer.
Just to settle the dispute, Gaga won't be singing in the series. In fact there won't be any musical numbers.
Casting Gaga "was one of the weirdest things in my career, ever,” Murphy said at the forum, revealing that she emailed him personally asking, “Would you consider putting me on it?”
He wrote back “yes” in all caps (duh), and a week later the phone rang. That's when he heard “the best words in the English language: 'please hold for Gaga.'”
The "Bad Romance" singer told him, “I want to be evil,” and Murphy replied, “you came to the right place.”
MTV reports that Angela Bassett and Sarah Paulson will also play “bad girls,” and that Bomer—whose character is in a love triangle with Gaga and Finn Wittrock—is hiding some dark secrets.
We also got some character names: Peters is Mr. March, Bomer is Donovan, Paulson is Hypodermic Sally and Bates is Iris.
"The thing that's different about the season is that before we've always been very driven by the Jessica Lange character. She was always the lead," Murphy said.
"This year, it's a true ensemble and I think we have more male parts and more male stories. The Wes Bentley part is really big, the Matt Bomer part is really big; Evan Peters and Finn Wittrock are really big. [But] that's not to say that the women aren't either."
Murphy also confirmed that characters from previous seasons will check into AHS: Hotel. Does that mean Pepper is back? We'll have to wait for the fall to find out.
