Elizabeth Warren wants voters to sashay their way to the voting booth.
This past weekend at the third annual DragCon NYC, the Democratic presidential candidate delivered a message to all of the squirrel friends attending the fierce festivities, urging them to register to vote and reminding everyone that we've "got a lot of work to do to make sure everyone is free to be who they are and love who they love."
Warren also spoke about the high number of trans women of color being murdered in the U.S. "We need to call it out, and we need to fight back," she said in the video.
Trixie Mattel introduced the video by telling the crowd about the time she had to go vote in drag: “If I have the time to vote, in drag,” she added, “you bitches do, too.”
In addition to the video, Warren's campaign had a booth set up on the convention floor where attendees could swing by and pick up Warren signs, stickers, and fans—and take a photo with a cardboard cutout of the Massachusetts senator. RuPaul's Drag Race alum Shea Couleé was also at the booth on Sunday urging fans to register to vote.
“The folks at DragCon extended an invitation to all of the Democratic candidates to come to DragCon, and she is the only one that accepted the invitation,” Couleé told NBC News. “For me, that speaks volumes.”
Next, Warren will go from the DragCon main stage to the debate stage for the third Democratic presidential primary debate, Thursday, September 12, in Houston.
