A Washington, D.C., man was repeatedly hit in the face and head by attackers who used anti-gay slurs and told him he was in "Trump's America."
Brice Robert Kohler told police he was walking his dog in Logan Circle last Wednesday when he noticed four men gathered nearby. One of the men shouted “Hey Snowflake! This is what a Trump America looks like, faggot!” and the rest began throwing objects at his face and head.
The suspects—all white men in their 20s—then fled on foot and Kohler rushed home to tend to his injuries.
He told police two of the assailants wore "Make America Great Again" caps.
“I share this with you because I have grown so tired of hearing just how perfect and great Trump supporters are and have been,” he posted on Facebook. “That they are above anything like what happened to us... They aren’t.”
The incident is being classified as aggravated assault, a felony that comes with a maximum $10,000 fine and/or a prison term of up to 10 years. The District's bias-crime law covers attacks based on a victim's real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
