Even if you haven't seen it, you're probably familiar with the finer points of Mean Girls, the timeless teen comedy that inspired more deliciously-quotable lines than almost any other movie to come before or after it.

For many of us, we know Cady's story like the back of our hands. But what if her story were different?

That's the question posed in a newly imagined trailer from Mashable, which sees Cady not falling head-over-heels for regulation hottie Aaron Samuels, but for her hard-edged BFF Janis Ian.

The trailer is dark and paints their forbidden romance as rife with conflict. It's an interesting perspective and, honestly, kiiiind of works.
