This "Pose" Star Is Hosting the First 2020 LGBTQ Presidential Forum

"I'm so ready and excited!"

Pose star and transgender activist Angelica Ross is the official pick to host this Friday's 2020 Presidential Candidate Forum on LGBTQ Issues.

Ross, who's also slated to star in the next installment of Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story franchise, was confirmed as the event's host yesterday afternoon, Deadline reports. The actress doubles as the founder and CEO of TransTech Social Enterprises, a networking group for trans and gender nonconforming people in tech, and the president of Miss Ross, Inc.

"I’m so READY & excited to be hosting the #LGBTQforum on Friday," Ross tweeted after news of her appearance went live. "Stay tuned!"

Friday's forum, the first of its kind for 2020, will focus solely on LGBTQ issues, giving Democratic White House hopefuls the chance to expand upon their proposed policies that affect queer Americans. It will stream live from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is jointly presented by GLAAD, One Iowa, The Advocate, and The Gazette.

Candidates confirmed to participate include Joe Biden, Cory Booker, Pete Buttigieg, Julián Castro, Tulsi Gabbard, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, Joe Sestak, Elizabeth Warren, and Marianne Williamson. (Bernie Sanders and Beto O'Rourke are both absent from the list, which Ross pointed out on Twitter.)

In a statement, GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis called the forum "a pivotal moment in the 2020 election cycle."

"It’s the first time that LGBTQ issues will be exclusively discussed by 2020 presidential candidates on a national stage," she added. "We look forward to hearing how the 2020 candidates plan to reverse the attacks and rollbacks of the Trump Administration and put LGBTQ Americans on a course to 100% acceptance."

HRC is also slated to host an LGBTQ-centric presidential Town Hall with CNN on Thursday, October 10, the eve of National Coming Out Day.
