Geena Rocero Hosting New Show On USA

"What's important on this show... is that there is a call to action."

Model, producer and trans-rights activist Geena Rocero is slated to join a new show on the USA Network.

Aspireist aims to be a forward-thinking news source for millennials, focusing on world events and how they can address them.

Rocero, along with a yet unannounced group of other twenty- and thirtysomething activists, will serve as hosts and correspondents.

"What’s important on this show is after we do the reporting, deep reporting, is that there is a call to action,” said Rocero.

"I think there is a different way to present the news," says executive producer Sally Granatstein. "I don’t think [millennials are] looking for this 'objective,' Voice of God, kind of standard, anchor-driven news. They’re looking for something more experiential, more interactive."

This interactive style of reporting will be inspired by the diverse array of passions the show's anchors bring to the table, says Granatstein, ranging from LGBT rights and feminism to environmentalism and arts education.

Rocero was recently honored at the GLAAD Media Awards for her work producing and starring in the Logo TV series "Beautiful As I Want To Be."
