First Two Actresses Cast In TV Land's "First Wives Club" Series

A "Smash" star and a sitcom vet have just been announced as two of the three leads.

We told you that TV Land was rebooting the classic film First Wives Club as an original series, and now the network has cast the first two ladies to star in the project.

How I Met Your Mother's Alyson Hannigan and Smash's Megan Hilty have just signed on to play two of the three women taking the place of Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton.

According to Deadline, Hannigan will play a "bright but frustrated" English professor at a college in San Francisco "who is struggling to put excitement back into her flagging marriage."

Meanwhile, it looks like Hilty's character parallels Hawn's former role, as she's playing a successful actress who has now "aged out" of Hollywood. "Needy and vulnerable, she works hard at staying fit and gorgeous, still hoping for that breakout role, while doing cheesy commercials."

Will you be tuning into the new series when it premieres?
