Season 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race U.K. has a Miss Congeniality, and she's vegan.
East London-based queen Bimini Bon Boulash was awarded the title in a PopBuzz video interview on Sunday (March 21) by reigning queen Lawrence Chaney, who won the season in last week's gag-worthy finale. Her victory came as a shock to almost everyone — even Lawrence, who confessed to NewNowNext that she was "really surprised" by the outcome.
Although Lawrence started the season out strong, her momentum seemed to still after the queens were forced to take a seven-month break from shooting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After returning to the workroom, Bimini quickly emerged as a standout competitor, winning four of the five remaining challenges on the season. "I was like, 'Bimini is going to win,'" Lawrence remembers thinking. "'I’m fine with it.'"
Ultimately, Lawrence was crowned the U.K.'s next drag superstar by RuPaul. But the Scottish queen had the pleasure of naming Bimini the season's Miss Congeniality, a title that Lawrence believes is well-deserved: "She’s so caring for other people, and we hardly ever see it where someone who’s caring, is also a real big contender as well. She’s a really special person, so love Bimini, Miss Congeniality all the way."
Lawrence isn't the the only Season 2 competitor who thinks so, either. In lieu of fans voting for superlatives, this season's Miss Congeniality was selected by the competing queens themselves.
"Honoured that I was awarded Miss Congeniality from the UK2 girls," Bimini tweeted in response to the announcement. "Love them all, They're all b*tches xxx"
