This weekend on Fire Island was the Ascension party, one of the biggest shindigs of the season. And as you'd expect at a gay party, there was at least a smidge of drama: Porn mogul Michael Lucas reported that Nick Gruber, the totally-not-gay ex-boyfriend of designer Calvin Kelin, got himself excised from Ascension's VIP area for squirpin' and a chirpin' like a fool.
"Kicked Nick Gruber out of the VIP tent at the Ascension Party," Lucas posted on Facebook. "He was screaming at people for touching him while declaring he is 'straight.'"
Well, duh—who else but a straight guy would be at the biggest gay bash on the East Coast?
Lucas followed up with more details:
I saw this arrogant guy who was being rude to people, shoving two guys away after they bumped into him. I heard him say, "keep your hands away from me! I"m straight!" So I went over to him, and asked him why he was being so rude.
He said, "I am straight, and I don't want any gay people to touch me." At which point, I told him "you're leaving."
He said, "do you know who I am?" I said, "I don't know, and I don't even want to know who you think you are."
Then he said, "try me." I said "watch me". I called over to security and had him hauled away without his feet even touching the floor. Then someone explained to me that this is the ex boyfriend of Calvin Klein, Nick Gruber, who just "came out" as "straight."
I have never heard about this guy before and had no idea what he looked like. I've never read any of the gossip that supposedly surrounds him. So, I guess he came to a gay party to let everyone know he is "straight."
Gruber laid out his lady-loving cred in a recent New York magazine interview, trotting out the old line, “I’m not gay, but I don’t believe in labels. I believe in love." We believe in labels: Gucci, Prada, McQueen...
The blond porn-actor-turned-model has had his share of anger-management issues: Gruber was arrested on assault and cocaine-possession charges in January 2012, and more recently was interviewed by police in conjunction with a bloody dust up in the Hamptons.
