Creepy Teasers, Official Name, Surface For "American Horror Story" Season 7

The new season will star Sarah Paulson, Billy Eichner and Lena Dunham.

The title of American Horror Story Season 7 has been revealed and it is beyond terrifying.

Ryan Murphy and his creative team dropped the news with a new trailer late Thursday night, which showed a circle of grotesque clowns surrounding the title: "AHS Cult."

Murphy had previously teased that the new season would address the 2016 presidential election, but maintained that it would be more metaphorical than literal. "The themes of American Horror Story have always been allegories," he told Andy Cohen in March. "You will not see Trump and [Hillary] Clinton as characters on the show."

To really drive the point home, the AHS creator tweeted out a simple message to fans.

He also answered a few question on the Twitter thread, revealing that the season would be set in Michigan and feature a lot more Evan Peters (!).

In addition to Peters and longtime fan favorite Sarah Paulson, the new season will also feature Scream Queens standout Billie Lourd, Difficult People's Billy Eichner and even Girls star Lena Dunham.

"Thrilled that my talented friend Lena Dunham is joining the American Horror Story family," Murphy tweeted. "Always wanted to work together, and now we are!"

While not much else is known about Season 7 just yet, if the trailer is any indication, it's set to bring the show back to its horror roots.
