Dolce & Gabbana Sing A Different Tune, Put Same-Sex Families On Handbags

The designer duo has previously spoken out against surrogacy, in vitro and same-sex parenting.

Last year, designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabba got in hot water for railing against same-sex parents and surrogacy.

"The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offsprings and rented uterus," the billionaire couturiers told Italy’s Panorama magazine in March 2015.

But as Italy debates gay marriage and adoption, the duo have done a 180 and put same-sex couples with children on their new handbags.

This week Gabbana posted photos of handbags and t-shirts adorned with childlike drawings of family groups of two men or two women with children of various ages.

On one post, Gabbana wrote "People change and change their ideas."

Demonstrations have been held across Italy this month, both in favor and opposing a bill that would offer some rights to same-sex and unmarried heterosexual couples—including the right of gay people to adopt their partner's biological children.
