Jasmin Savoy Brown Comes Face to Ghostface in ‘Scream VI’ Trailer

The actress takes a scary subway ride in the new clip.

Scream VI is moving the murders from Woodsboro to Manhattan.

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming slasher sequel features some familiar faces taking a spooky subway ride, including Jasmin Savoy Brown who plays Mindy, and was previously introduced in the fifth Scream — and obvious spoiler alert — survived. Mindy outlived her last face-to-Ghostface, but she has another close encounter with the masked killer in the new preview, so is her luck about to run out?

Savoy Brown's character isn't the only Scream survivor to return. Melissa Barerra and Jenna Ortega are back as sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter, and Mason Gooding returns as Mindy's brother, Chad. But sadly, this will be the first Scream movie without Neve Campbell, but Courtney Cox will reprise her role as Gale Weathers, and Scream 4 fan favorite Kirby (played by Hayden Panettiere) is also back.

"What I love about playing Mindy is she's a queer Black woman, just like myself, so I'm really proud of that," the actress told Logo during a Scream on-set interview back in 2020. "The directors and the writers have done a beautiful job out of making characters that aren't tropes and aren't caricatures. They're just people existing in this world. When they asked for collaboration, they were just asking me to be my full self. So there wasn't a lot of tweaking to do, I felt I could just fully exist just as myself which is a person who happens to be queer, and the writing reflects that."

This year has been a big one for Savoy Brown. Not only did she hit the big screen in Scream, she was also one of the stars of the Showtime hit series Yellowjackets, she dropped her first single, “Orange Wine,” and created the podcast The Homo Schedule, which she co-hosts.

“To me, Pride is joy, and that sounds so simple, but I do think it is that simple,” she told Logo earlier this year when she was named one of the 2022 Logo30 honorees. “Queer people have had to overcome so much that our laughter, our joy is a celebration.”

Scream VI is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and will hit theaters on March 10. Until then, check out the teaser trailer below.
