Parties totally hit different during Pride — just ask Terence Edgerson.

The Michigan-born, New York City-based fête fanatic of @NYSocialBee fame is the mind behind a number of iconic queer parties, including STUNTSZ and List Is Closed. He’s been in the game for more than a decade and will look familiar to anyone who frequents NYC’s queer club circuit.

Speaking to Logo, Edgerson recalls moving to New York alone at 18 and navigating life as an out gay man for the first time. It was “terrifying” at times, he says: “I don't think I would've gotten through New York had it not been for my chosen family. I think that is probably one of the most beautiful things in life that I've found, is chosen family.”

Edgerson’s event production career began organically when someone asked him to host a party. He said yes; the event was a hit; and before he knew it, Edgerson was throwing fabulous fêtes of his own throughout the Big Apple.

Although he’s lived in New York for quite some time now, Edgerson says he still gets emotional every time Pride Month rolls around.

“From 5 years old to 50 years old, everyone is full of joy,” he gushes. “There's hugs, there's tears. There's really this moment of awe that we're doing this, that we're together and celebrating who we are. I think for me, it never gets old.”
