RuPaul Wins Outstanding Host Emmy, Dedicates Award to Chi Chi DeVayne

Mama Ru just made Emmys herstory.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

RuPaul just made Emmys herstory by snatching her fifth consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program. The record was previously held by Survivor host Jeff Probst who had four consecutive wins in the category.

"I've always said, every time I bat my false eyelashes I'm making a political statement. Tonight, the only political statement I want to make is this: love," Ru said in a pre-taped acceptance speech. "Love for our LGBT brothers and sisters, love for Black queens and brown queens and love for the United States of America where a little gay boy with nothing more than a pussycat wig and a dream can build an international platform that celebrates sweet sensitive souls everywhere."

"On November 3 make this your ring tone: The time has come for you to vote for your life," the Drag Race host continued, reminding viewers to register to vote. Ru ended his speech by dedicating his win to Chi Chi DeVayne, the Drag Race Season 8 queen who passed away in August after a battle with pneumonia:

"I'd like to dedicate this Emmy to one of my girls, Chi Chi DeVayne, may you rest in power and perfection."

Ru's win is just the latest Emmy snatched by the Drag Race team during this week's Creative Arts Emmys. The reality series also won for Outstanding Casting, Directing, Costumes, Editing, Hairstyles, and Makeup, which marked the first win for Raven, the former Drag Race contestant who is now Ru's personal makeup artist on the show.

RuPaul's Drag Race is nominated for Outstanding Competition Program during this year's Primetime Emmys, Sunday, September 20 at 8pm ET on ABC.
