Better make some room in the Truham trophy case because Heartstopper is bringing home some gold.

The Netflix series snatched trophies at the first annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards this past weekend, winning five Emmys, the most of the night. The first season of Heartstopper won Outstanding Young Teen Series, Outstanding Writing for Alice Oseman, Outstanding Casting for Daniel Edwards, Outstanding Guest Performance for Olivia Colman, and Outstanding Lead Performance for Kit Connor.

Connor wasn't in attendance to accept his Emmy in person, so his Heartstopper co-stars Sebastian Croft and Will Gao, gave a touching speech on his behalf:

“Kit has been so inspiring for us, and he really led the company of actors, and this is so well deserved, and we can’t wait to give this to him. Well done Kit!” said Gao.

Later, on Instagram, Connor posted his reaction to winning, writing: “Well this is cool. Thank you so much to everyone who watched the show!”

While accepting the award for Outstanding Young Teen Series, Heartstopper executive producer Patrick Walters thanked the cast and crew, and thanked Netflix for believing in the series:

“Most of all with Heartstopper we wanted the next generation of LGBTQ kids to see themselves in a story about queer joy, about love, and about acceptance," Walters said in his speech. "I really want to thank the television academy for recognizing our show because it means the world to us.”

Heartstopper Season 2 has wrapped filming, but a premiere date has not yet been announced.
