The Category Is: Royalty, In Glittering New "Pose" Extended Series Trailer

"And THAT is how you do a ball!"

"Balls are a gathering of people who are not welcome to gather anywhere else."

Pose, the latest project from creator Ryan Murphy, has already made television history by featuring the largest cast of transgender series regulars for an American TV series, and now the highly anticipated drama has an extended trailer.

The musical series takes place in 1980s New York, focusing on “the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe” and the ball culture world, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In addition to featuring five trans actors, MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar and Angelica Ross, in series regular roles, the project also stars Evan Peters and Kate Mara as a New Jersey couple who get sucked into the glamour of ’80s NYC. James Van Der Beek will play Peters’ financial kingpin boss and Billy Porter has been cast as ballroom MC Pray Tell.

In the new preview viewers get an introduction into the New York ball scene, and more of Billy Porter, who plays the master of ceremonies.

“Along with being a dance musical and an affirming look at American life in the 1980s, I’m so proud that Pose and FX have made history right from the beginning by featuring the most trans series regular actors ever in an American television production,” Murphy said in a statement. “Additionally, the first season of Pose will feature 50-plus LGBTQ characters—a record in American television history.”

The series was shot on location around New York last year, even filming in the legendary gay bar, Julius’—transformed into Boy Lounge for the series—in the West Village. The first season will consist of eight episodes, with the first two directed by Murphy.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 3, for the premiere of Pose, kicking off LGBT Pride Month. Watch the new extended preview below.
