Donald Trump's positive response to a lesbian reporter who asked if she could expect "forward motion" on LGBT equality under a Trump presidency has officially come back to bite him in the ass.
LGBTQ Nation reports the current GOP presidential frontrunner was clocked by his closest competitor Ted Cruz in South Carolina just hours before Saturday's primary with a robocall that used quotes from that interview to paint him as a supporter of LGBT equality, even though he's made clear otherwise.
"Check out how Trump answers this," the robot beckons before Trump's comments are played and his words misconstrued.
As you may recall, Trump answered the question by saying "you can" expect 'forward motion' on LGBT equality under his leadership, and that most importantly, his campaign is about 'bringing people together.'
"It's not about tolerance anymore," the robot declares. "It's about mandatory celebration. It's about forcing people to bake cakes and photograph gay weddings. Forcing clergy to officiate. It’s about transgender bathrooms in your child’s school. It’s about tearing down our Judeo-Christian values. It’s about tearing down our America."
The robocall, published on Soundcloud by Buzzfeed, ends after urging pro-Trump voters to vote for Ted Cruz "before it's too late."
