Sir Elton John Calls For Boycott Of Dolce And Gabbana
Sir Elton John is one of the first celebrities speaking out against designers Dolce and Gabbana after their controversial comments against gays having children were reported over the weekend.
Sir Elton is calling for a boycott of the gay fashion designers, following their slams against same-sex parents in an interview with Italian news magazine Panorama.
"We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one," the designers said.
They added, "No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed."
Sir Elton took to his Instagram page to counter the couturiers' comments. "How dare you refer to my beautiful children as 'synthetic,'" John wrote. "And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF--a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfill their dream of having children."
He then added, "Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana"
Gabbana quickly responded through comments right on Sir Elton's Instagram post, calling him a "fascist" and then adding the hashtag "#boycotteltonjohn."
The "Tiny Dancer" singer was one of many speaking out against D&G. Courtney Love turned to social media and threatened to "burn" all the items she already owns, adding "Boycott senseless bigotry!"
