Christian Shoppers Slam Whole Foods for Sponsoring Drag Event

One Million Moms demand a boycott of the grocery retailer for promoting Drag Queen Story Hour.

No mention of the overpriced produce?

One Million Moms, a boycott-crazy online conservative Christian group affiliated with the American Family Association, is now targeting Whole Foods.

Whole Foods was one of the primary sponsors of a recent Drag Queen Story Hour, a popular event where queens make story time more fabulous by reading picture books to kids, held in Atlanta.

"A retailer that once promoted organics and clean food is now saturated in absolute filth, exploiting America’s children to be 'groomed' by drag queens," writes a One Million Moms spokesperson in a statement. "Whole Foods Market is now sponsoring a Drag Queen Story Hour event to indoctrinate children into transgenderism and homosexuality. Their goal is to normalize the LGBTQ lifestyle."

"The disturbing events involve men dressed up as garishly adorned women who read LGBTQ-themed books to young children under the guise of performing a public service. Some drag queens have admitted their goal is to 'groom' the next generation," OMM continues. "If you shop at Whole Foods Market, you are also supporting child exploitation, which this corporation apparently contributes to and endorses."

A petition calling for the boycott of all Whole Foods locations, urging the company "to stop attempting to normalize this lifestyle," has garnered more than 8,000 signatures.

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms had invited Miss Terra Cotta Sugarbaker to read to children at City Hall after the Drag Queen Story Hour was removed from the event calendar at a local library.

Drag Queen Story Hours have become polarizing regular events at public and school libraries nationwide. Houston's Drag Queen Story Time called it quits last month following controversy and a lawsuit. MassResistance, which has protested similar programs in several cities, disrupted a reading last week at the West Valley Regional Branch Library in Reseda, California.

One Million Moms has notably called for the boycotts of brands like Campbell's Soup, American Girl magazine, and Zales, specifically for supporting same-sex couples. The group recently protested Mr. Ratburn's gay wedding in the Arthur cartoon.

Last month OMM targeted Pixar/Disney for including brief moments in its hit animated film Toy Story 4 that show two mothers dropping off and picking up their child from school.
