The Magic Mike sequel is really gonna happen, according to Joe Manganiello, who played "Big Dick Richie" in the original. Reports are the film even has a title: Magic Mike XXL.
"Yeah, it's gonna happen this fall. I think they're going to announce it soon," Manganiello told Collider. "It's crazy. I didn't think that would be my first franchise. I never thought that would ever be the direction of my career. But that said, it's just proof that I don't know best, all the time. It was the most fun I've ever had, and I can't wait to get back in and mix it up with those guys."
Channing Tatum, is writing the script but Greg Jacobs, who was second assistant director on the first film, will take over for Steven Soderbergh in the followup, which is being billed as a road movie.
It's not clear how many of the original Magic cast will return for XXL—especially now that Matthew McConaughey is an Oscar winner. But with White Collar ending, we imagin Matt Bomer is available. Maybe this time they can give him some lines.
