For the second year in a row, Logo will air the exclusive U.S. broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest, the world's biggest music and entertainment competition show. Drag Race judges Michelle Visage and Ross Matthews will provide color commentary during the show, airing live and commercial-free on May 13.
"We’re excited that, thanks to Logo, even more viewers this year can discover the excitement of the world’s longest running annual TV music competition and 'celebrate diversity' with audiences around the world," said Jon Ola Sand, executive supervisor of Eurovision Song Contest.
Organized by the European Broadcasting Union, the competition is in its 62nd year, drawing more than 200 million viewers worldwide. The 2017 Grand Final competition, following the theme "Celebrate Diversity," will be held in Kiev, Ukraine, where acts representing 42 countries will battle it out for the coveted trophy and the right to host next year’s contest in their home country.
Eurovision is known for an eclectic mix of power ballads, ethnic rhythms, and bubblegum pop, paired with intricate lighting sequences, pyrotechnics, and elaborate costumes. Winners are chosen via professional juries and viewers voting at home.
Over its storied history, its has catapulted performers like ABBA, Celine Dion, Olivia Newton-John and Julio Iglesias to stardom. Austrian drag performer Conchita Wurst broke new ground in 2014, when she won with her her song "Rise Like a Phoenix."
