Return of "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" Raises $500,000 for The Actors Fund

Coming to you live from Rosie's craft room!

Live from Rosie O'Donnell's New Jersey craft room: It's the return of The Rosie O'Donnell Show!

This past Sunday, March 22, O'Donnell brought back her classic chatfest for a one-night-only fundraiser benefitting The Actors Fund.

The livestream was a who's who of Broadway's biggest names, performing songs from their living rooms as O'Donnell hosted via webcam from the garage of her Saddle River home.

“Everybody who knows me knows that Broadway has been one of the brightest lights in my life since the time I was a little girl,” O’Donnell said in a statement when the fundraiser was announced. “It has also been the lifeblood of New York City for generation after generation. After all Broadway has given to the world, now—in this time of tremendous need—it’s our turn to give something back. There is no better way to support this community than via The Actors Fund. And, with a line-up like this, I dare you not to tune in.”

From Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim singing Happy Birthday to each other, to Patti LuPone performing in her basement, the entire three-and-a-half-hour event was a nonstop marathon of fabulously queer theater moments.

The virtual event ended up raising $500,000 for The Actors Fund, with $100,000 coming from O'Donnell's own pocket.

Our host hinted that more Rosie O'Donnell Show fundraisers could happen in the future, but for now this was a one-off event, produced by O'Donnell and actor Erich Bergen. We loved every minute, but if it does happen again, we'd like more John McDaniel, please!
