This is not a good sign Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler.

"They have been talking about Adam for over a month," a source exclusively tells E! News. "He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start. He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of the judges' comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can't go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him."

Jennifer Lopez has made no plans to return for season three of the show, having gotten her career back on track, so Adam would seem to just be replacing the singing superstar -- but that does not seem to be the case. "They want to keep the soul of the show but have a new look," the source explains.

Adam would certainly be great for the show as he has been through the Idol process and has an amazing singing voice, something most of the past judges were not blessed with. There is no word yet what female judge would be joining him on the panel, but given that X Factor has gone with Demi Lovato and Britney Spears and The Voice has Christina Aguilera, we feel like Rihanna and Selena Gomez may be going on some very nice dinners with Fox execs in the near future.

To bad Jessica Simpson already has Fashion Star.
