Check Out This Photo Of Henry Cavill In Christopher Reeve's Classic Superman Costume

"I knew right away he was my Superman," said director Zack Snyder.

Whether or not you're a fan of the DC comic-book movies, there's no denying Henry Cavill fills out Superman's uniform pretty darn well.

Now Zack Snyder—who directed Cavill in 2013's Man of Steel, as well as Batman v Superman and the upcoming Justice League—reveals he knew the actor was right for the part even before they fitted him with his current super-suit.

Snyder recently shared a photo of Cavill wearing the classic Superman costume worn by Christopher Reeve in 1978's Superman.

"First test with Henry," Snyder said. "I knew right away he was my Superman."

Cavill actually auditioned to play the Last Son of Krypton in Reeve's outfit, which is simpler than the chain-mail version used today. (It also still has the classic red shorts on the outside.)

"We didn’t have the suit made when Henry was auditioning, so [Henry] wore the original Christopher Reeve suit," Snyder told Dujour magazine last year. "He put it on and when he came out of the trailer, everyone was like, 'Dang, you’re Superman!'"
