Indie Spirits to Oscars: 'Go F*ck Yourself'

Funny thing happened on the way to the 85th Annual Academy Awards last night, all of Hollywood came to beachy Santa Monica for this ceremony that has evolved from a champion of the overlooked films to a marginally more entertaining, slightly less octogenarian-heavy warm up for the Oscars. Only thing, Andy Samberg didn't get that memo, and turned his opening monologue into a screed against "Hollywood." Problem is this event isn't the Sundance Film Festival of the 1980s. Or even the Indie Spirits of the 1990s. The audience was largely full of Academy Award nominees and their agents, promoters, handlers, press agents, hangers on, etc.
[caption id="attachment_90900" align="alignright" width="324"] Bradley, not telling Tinseltown to f*ck off (Getty)[/caption]Andy's tirade began "We have one thing to say to Hollywood, fuck you.” Then dug himself in some more with: “This is our Oscars, and even if we were invited, which I was not, we will not be going … Everybody say it with me: Hollywood, fuck you.”
Guess who didn't clap? Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and the rest of the "indie" nominees. Andy may not be invited tonight, but pretty much everyone else there was. And folks who aren't, really don't care. They don't want to churn out "Hollywood" films and therefore don't care for the approval of studio bosses in Burbank.
Here are the Indie Spirit 2013 nominees and winners...does this look like a room that's telling Hollywood to F*ck off? Really, Andy?
