Kacey Musgraves Brings the Casa Down Covering Selena's "Como La Flor"
Bidi bidi bom bom, y'all!
Recent Grammy-winner, and all-around country queen icon, Kacey Musgraves, opened RodeoHouston last night, February 25, with a set consisting of songs from her trio of studio albums, including Album of the Year, Golden Hour.
It was towards the end of her show that Kacey honored the late Tejano queen, Selena Quintanilla, who gave her final performance at RodeoHouston 24 years ago.
"I love the queen Selena just as much as you do!" Musgraves told the audience, according to the Houston Chronicle, as she sang Selena's hit, "Como La Flor."
Her tribute brought out the emotions in Selena's sister, who posted a video of Kacey's performance on Instagram and wrote how it made her want to "shed a tear," and thanked her for the love.
"I have always wanted to play RodeoHouston ever since I was a little girl," the "Rainbow" singer told the crowd, of more than 53,000. "We have a lot to celebrate." Kacey is based in Nashville, but she is originally from Golden, TX, a small town located in the eastern part of the state.
Kacey closed out her set with her disco-country bop, "High Horse," which she danced Selena's signature hustle moves to.
Con tanto amor, Kacey! Watch the rousing performance in the video below.
