After the legislature in Porterville,CA, decided to play take-backsies with a LGBT Month proclamation, activists got themselves arrested on disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace charges. Maybe they took offense at people like Trina Leon, who told the City Council, "For us to accept this proclamation would be calling God's word, the holy Bible, a lie.
Finally waking up and smelling the coffee weeks after the fact, attorneys for the House Republicans's Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group (the one that's been trying to defend DOMA) have officially given up the ghost. "The Supreme Court recently resolved the issue of DOMA Section 3’s constitutionality," their brief stated. "... The House has determined, in light of the Supreme Court’s opinion in Windsor, that it no longer will defend that statute." Hey guys, welcome to the 21st century.
