Chance the Rapper Asks His Fans to Help Lil Nas X Break a Record

"Old Town Road" is closing in on becoming the longest-running number one single in Billboard 100 history.

Lil Nas X already has the longest-running number one single in hip-hop, and Chance the Rapper wants to help him achieve even greater success.

The rapper, who recently came out as gay, has exploded onto the scene to become an overnight star, with his track "Old Town Road" currently spending its 14th week at the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. That already puts it in rare territory, with only 10 singles in the chart's 61-year history achieving that accomplishment.

If it can keep going and hit the 17-week mark it will become the longest-running number one track in Billboard 100 history, across all genres. Only two songs have made it to the 16-week benchmark: Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's collaboration "One Sweet Day," and Luis Fonsi, featuring Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, with "Despacito."

Chance the Rapper is among those hoping to see that happen, telling his fans to stream it.

Lil Nas X appreciated the support.

In addition to celebrating hitting the 14-week mark with "Old Town Road," he also thanked fans for making his 7 EP a success as well, as it hit the second spot on the Billboard 200.
