15 Lesbian Food Stars Who Serve It Up Hot

Just thinking about these queer chefs makes us hungry.

Queer women kill it in the kitchen, as evidenced by the number of lady-loving knife-wielders and spice-slingers on America's top cooking shows.

Below, we've compiled a list some of of our favorite lesbian chefs. Bon appétit!

Dimayuga, former executive chef at Mission Chinese Food, is one of New York's most talked-about culinary talents. Last April, the out chef made waves after refusing to be featured on Ivanka Trump's website. As a queer woman of color and the daughter of immigrants, she didn't feel morally right accepting the press opportunity.

"I’m not interested in a catfight," she told HuffPo. "I just found an opportunity to speak and share my narrative and my truth to vocalize my values and my own integrity."

Cat Cora[image src="wp-attachment://530841" title="Grand Opening Of Fatbird"]

Cora is a certified Iron Chef, co-host of Bravo's Around the World in 80 Plates and Fox's My Kitchen Rules, and has appeared on nearly every cooking show there is. She's been at the helm of 18 restaurants, and even has a highly-successful cookware line.

Her newest venture is Fatbird Southern Kitchen and Bar in New York's Meatpacking District.

Sarah Kirnon[image src="wp-attachment://530851" title="sarah-kirnon"]

This Oakland chef, featured in the Logo documentary Hungry, serves up Afro-Caribbean cuisine at Miss Ollie's. Before opening up her own spot, Kirnon was the chef at Front Porch in San Francisco's Mission district, as well as Hibiscus.

The winner of Top Chef Season 10, Kish went on to become a model (she's done campaigns for Uniqlo and Samsonite), and co-hosts the Travel Channel's 36 Hours, which had her eating and playing in different cities for a day-and-a-half. Next up: her first cookbook.

Deborah VanTrece[image src="wp-attachment://530857" title="Food Fighters - Season 2"]

This Southern chef is renowned for her gourmet catering company, Edible Art Cafe, and the modern soul food she cooks up at Twisted Soul Kitchen and Bar in Decatur, Georgia. Her 2015 appearance on NBC's Food Fighters brought even more hungry mouths to the table.

Anne Burrell

Food Network

This shockheaded chef is a staple on Food Network, where she hosts Secrets Of a Restaurant Chef and Worst Cooks in America. When she's not in front of the camera Burrell, 47, is in front of the classroom—as an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education.

Burrell opened Phil & Anne's Good Time Lounge in Brooklyn in spring 2017.

Elizabeth Falkner[image src="wp-attachment://530845" title="The Build Series Presents Elizabeth Falkner Discussing Her Latest Projects"]

A James Beard nominee, Falkner is frequently a judge on The Next Iron Chef, Chopped All Stars, and various versions of Top Chef. And she's pretty hot in the kitchen herself: In 2012, she won first prize at the World Pizza Championships in Naples. But what she's really recognized for are her cakes, which celebrities like Sharon Stone go gaga for.

Preeti Mistry[image src="wp-attachment://530945" title="Preeti-Mistry"]

Mistry and her wife, Ann Nadeau, own two restaurants in Oakland: the South Indian-influenced Juhu Beach Club and their new café, Navi Kitchen. Eater called Mistry "the Jennifer Hudson of Top Chef," because, while she didn't win her season, she's one of the most successful chefs to come out of the show.

Kylie Kwong

Anita Lo[image src="wp-attachment://530846" title="The New York Times Food For Tomorrow Conference 2016 - Day 1"]

This Malaysian-American chef was the first challenger to win a battle on Iron Chef America, and finished in fourth place on Top Chef Masters. Off-camera, Lo was the first female chef invited to cook a State Dinner at the White House, for President Obama.

Karen Akunowicz[image src="wp-attachment://530848" title="Top Chef - Season 13"]

The three-time James Beard nominee is executive chef at Boston's Myers+Chang, which inspired the new cookbook Myers+Chang at Home. An unapologetic fat-positive queer femme, Akunowicz was a Top Chef favorite on Season 13.

Charleen Caabay

Beloved for her take on Filipino comfort food, Chef Charleen tried her skills on Chopped, and won. As co-owner of Oakland's Kainbigan, she's also cooked for Silicon Valley mainstays like Google, Zoosk and OkCupid. (No mystery ingredients, though.)

Jennifer Biesty[image src="wp-attachment://530852" title="Red Carpet - 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards"]

The Top Chef Season 4 finalist trained with Jamie Oliver in London and was executive chef at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco. Now she making magic at Oakland's Shakewell, a Mediterranean restaurant that also hosts weekly family-style fried chicken dinners.
