Yasmin Finney Has a Cute Alien Encounter In New 'Doctor Who' Teaser Trailer

It's your first look at the 'Heartstopper' actress' Whoniverse debut.

Yasmin Finney is going from Heartstopper to... hanging out with a Time Lord?

Earlier this year the BBC announced that Yasmin Finney, who is trans and plays Elle Argent on Netflix's hit series Heartstopper, will be "playing the character of Rose" in next year's 60th anniversary celebration of Doctor Who

Now we finally got a peek at Finney in the Whoniverse, in a new teaser trailer for the Doctor Who anniversary specials, and it seems like her character, Rose, is in danger.

In the action-packed preview, we see David Tennant's Doctor stepping back inside the TARDIS, as well as his companion Donna Noble, who will once again be played by Catherine Tate. Finney's Rose is shown carrying a (moving?) box into a house, and meets Beep the Meep, a cute alien creature who warns her that the insectoid intergalactic visitors spreading terror are "monsters."

We also get a longer look at Neil Patrick Harris as a mischievous villain, and Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa, who was previously announced as the next Doctor, and is now known officially as the Fifteenth Doctor. Fans get a glimpse of him in the teaser where we see him shout: "Someone tell me what the hell is going on here!" Our thoughts exactly.

"If anyone would have told 8-year-old Yasmin that one day she’d be part of this iconic show, I would have never in a million years believed them," the British Vogue cover star said in a statement after her role was announced. "This show has a place in so many people’s hearts, so to be seen as a trans actress by the legend himself Russell, has not only made my year, it’s made my life. I cannot wait to begin this journey and for you all to see how Rose blossoms. Get Ready.”

Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies also released a statement on Finney's casting, saying: "Life on Doctor Who gets brighter and wilder, how can there be another Rose? You'll find out in 2023, but it's an absolute joy to welcome Yasmin to the Doctor Who set. We all fell in love with her in Heartstopper, one of those shows which changes the world — and now Yasmin can change the Whoniverse!"

The Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials will air in November 2023. Until then, check out the new teaser trailer below.
